ABOUT
Xochii de la Noche (she/they) is a multi-passionate creative; they are a performer, flow artist dancer, DJ, glitch artist, and producer just to name a few. Currently in sunny Long Beach, CA, Xochii is on a mission to bring and inspire more pleasure and joy into the world through art and magick. Their Sagittarian spirit and ambition knows no bounds, and her creativity and talents expand over a multitude of artforms.
Xochii has had a love of performing and the arts from a very young age, starting with their school choir at the age of 8. Xochii was fortunate to be able to have her hands in music, theater, dance, and visual arts daily in her adolescent years through an expeditionary art school in her hometown of Denver, CO.
Burlesque / Performance:
Xochii moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to attend the University of Southern California. They first explored burlesque in 2015 with the Hells Belles in Los Angeles, taking their introductory class series. Not yet feeling quite confident enough to be on stage, Xochii took a pause on further pursuing their burlesque dreams.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, it put a halt to all plans in motion for that year. Needing to find a way to exert all of their energy during lockdown not attatched to a computer, Xochii fell in love with flow arts, primarily with silk fans, levitation wand, floorwork, and spinning fans. Xochii’s love of flow arts grew and reignited her interest in burlesque; she grew curious as to how she could combine her love of flow arts and burlesque.
In 2021, Xochii made their stage debut in her current home base of Long Beach, CA with her silk fan specialty. Since then, Xochii has had the honor of performing in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, and has been a featured performer in the Queer Mvmnt Festival (2022), the Ohio Burlesque Festival (2022), the Mile HIGH Burlesque Festival (2023), and the Exquisite Burlesque Festival (2023). Since their burlesque debut, Xochii has also had the opportunity to take classes and learn from GiGi Holliday, Perle Noire, Egypt Blaque Knyle, Ginger Lee Valentine, Genie Adagio, Onyx Black, Miss Lady Legs, Miss Spent Youth, and Lili VonSchtupp.
Xochii spreads her love of flow arts and sensual movement through her workshops on beginner silk fan flow and technique, beginner levitation wand flow and technique, and beginner sensual movement.
DJing:
In 2017, Xochii started exploring the art of DJing, learning from local DJ Funky Caramelo.
In 2019, Xochii made their official DJ debut with the Los Angeles queer montly leather party, Cruise. Xochii was in love with the rush of DJing and was excited to further explore the local scene in Long Beach and Los Angeles. Unfortunately the world had other plans and Xochii was forced to look into other forms of art away from a computer to manage their mental health
Xochii made their official return to DJing in late 2021. Since coming back onto the scene, Xochii has had the privilege of playing for the Brujita Market, Bass N Babes, Cumbiatón LA, Ovation Hollywood, and UTOPIA Tribe Hollywood. Xochii has also DJ’d for professional clients such as the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) and AltaMed.
Xochii is inspired by both her parents' love of music and their stories of dancing all over LA in the 80’s and 90’s. Xochii incorporates old school and current house, techno, pop, and Latin party classics to provide the perfect dance escape from sun up to sun down… or sun down to sun up.
Xochii ultimately wants to inspire others, especially other melanated Latine folks, to release shame and follow their joy, whatever form it may take.
“Art and creation are so core to connecting with myself, others, and my ancestors. My art is an opening to another world where pain and suffering is transmuted into sparkle, color, laughter, dance, and love; a world where the joy of queer people of color is abundant. I want my art to always be a reminder to myself and other queer people of color to make room for celebration, joy, pleasure, and creative expression.”
