A workshop to learn the fundamentals of DJing! Beginner friendly, no experience or equipment needed!
✨ Curious about the skills it takes to become a DJ?
✨ Feeling lost and overwhelemed when trying to learn on your own?
✨ Looking for a queer/trans, Black and brown centered space to learn?
Join Long Beach DJ, Xochii de la Noche at Pieter Performance Space in Los Angeles for a fun, interactive, and beginner-friendly event where you can learn the art and fundamentals of DJing!
This workshop is perfect if you have never tried DJing before, or if you are looking for guidance on the fundamentals of DJing in a group setting.
We will cover:
An introductory overview of working a DJ controller
Beat matching and using EQ levels to transition from one song to the next
How to pick and find songs
How to load your songs into Rekordbox to play
We will end the last hour with open decks to try out the skills you learned, ask any questions, and a chance to get to know your classmates learning with you!
Bring a brand new USB drive, your laptop with Rekordbox downloaded, 5 - 10 songs you want to play with downloaded, and patience for learning a new skill. If you don't have a laptop or a USB, you can still take the class - I'll have music and all that you need to learn.
This is a Black and brown, fat-positive, s3x-worker positive, queer and trans centered space! Allies are welcome, but please respect the space.
